Motors with long through-bolts are sometimes
found in fan applications. The through-bolts
that hold the motor together, are extended to
allow a fan grill, guard or shroud to be
mounted on the ends. These long bolts hold the
grill or guard in place, while the fan blade
assembly itself is mounted directly on the
motor shaft.
