Motor Load Percent Estimate from Amperage Measurements

Power is measured by a WATTMETER. However, the motor load percent can be estimated from amperage readings subject to:

The applied voltage must be within 5% of the nameplate rating.

You must be able to disconnect the motor from the load (or alternatively, get the motor no load amps from the manufacturer)

The motor must be 7.5 HP or larger. The RPM must be either 3600 (2 poles), 1800 (4 poles) or 1200 (6 poles)

The measured amps must be less than the nameplate rating.

DIRECTIONS: Select a HP, then enter the voltage and amperage data. Press Calculate to solve. EXPERIMENT BY HITTING SAMPLE DATA
